Spring Greetings!

So there he was, standing before a great crowd of on-lookers, all of whom were staring at him as if he was their last chance for a lifetime of happiness. It was his own fault, for he had let himself be put in this position over and over again. It wasn’t their fault that they had placed him high up on a pedestal. He had allowed it to happen. He even relished in it. The lights! The cameras! He loved it. It was his one claim to fame, and he played it for all it was worth. He would be splashed all over the 6 o’clock news, from coast to coast. His picture would adorn the front page of every major newspaper across the free world. All he had to do was stand there and let it happen. Everyone was waiting on him. Their anticipation had grown to a frenzy. They had to have his answer….

“Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow” the short guy in the tall top hat cried. “Ten more weeks of winter!”

The statement landed with a thud on the heads of the crowd. Never had so many been so brutally disappointed. Phil, sensing an impending attack by the very crowd who only moments before had wholeheartedly adored him, turned and with his tail between his legs waddled  untouched back into his borrow. “Ingrates,” he muttered to himself as he went.

That’s the bad news. Now here’s the good.  As you read this eblast, seven or eight of those ten weeks have passed, and we’re almost to spring! So….. start dreamin’, start anticipatin’, and start plannin’, cause we’re only a few short weeks away from the fishing opener, and the Memorial Day weekend is only a few days after that.

This summer is going to be an action packed time, with more Tomahawk Lake Association activities and projects going on than ever before. In a few weeks you will be receiving our spring news letter, which will include all the information you will need to be “in the know” about what going on all summer long. One important note, we’ve changed the date of the Tomahawk Lake Fair from July 31 to August 7th. All our kids, and their parents, and their grand parents will have a great time together on that special day.

Oh, and by the way, in the fall newsletter I mentioned that we were going to employ three people to be paired with our Clean Boats Clean Waters volunteers at the boat ramps on the weekends this summer. If you, or anyone you know has a desire to make a huge difference for our lake, and work 20 hours per week for a ridiculously high wage (just kidding) would you get in touch with me at edgreedy@gmail.com  I’ve got an opportunity for you.

So there you have it! Summer will be here in no time, and your Tomahawk Lake Association has BIG PLANS for it. My hope is that you can be here as much as possible, to enjoy the natural beauty and the many fun times that make this place truly the “Jewel of the North”.

See you soon!  Ned
